Dr. Louis Liu is the Head of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the University Health Network (UHN) and Sinai Health, and the Director of the Clinical Motility Unit in UHN. He is the holder of the Driscoll Family Chair in Digestive Health since its inauguration in 2023. Dr. Liu established the Neurogastroenterology and Motility (NGM) clinical program in UHN and founded the University of Toronto Neurogastroenterology and Motility Fellowship Program in 2009. Currently, he is the inaugural President of Canadian Association of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (CANMO). In addition, he served as the course co-director of the Metabolism and Nutrition Unit in the University of Toronto undergraduate MD Program between 2011-2015 and as the VP of Administrative Affairs of Canadian Association of Gastroenterology between 2018-2022. Internationally, he was the University of Toronto Lead of the GI Residency Training Program at Addis Ababa University of Ethiopia between 2010-2020 and inaugurated the first Endoscopy Training Center in Ethiopia at the Tikur Anbessa Hospital along with the World Gastroenterology Organization in 2015. He is a dedicated and accomplished educator and researcher who has received multiple education and research awards.
