Colon Cancer Screening Guidelines Update (FIT under 45, colonoscopy under 45, why cancer in younger patients?)

  • To describe the changing epidemiology of colorectal cancer
  • To review the possible causes of early-onset colorectal cancer
  • To provide an update on ColonCancerCheck’s screening recommendations and other changes to the program

Dr. Catherine Dubé, MD, MSc, FRCPC

Associate professor, University of Ottawa

Dr Catherine Dubé is associate professor and Chief of Gastroenterology at the University of Ottawa and the Ottawa Hospital. She obtained her medical degree and Master’s in pharmacology from the Université de Montreal, followed by internal medicine, GI specialty and Master’s degree in clinical epidemiology at the University of Ottawa. She has held various leadership roles related to colon cancer screening and quality improvement in endoscopy over the years, including clinical lead for ColonCancerCheck, Ontario’s organized colorectal cancer screening program since 2014. She received the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology Quality Award for her leadership in quality improvement in GI endoscopy in 2020.
